Surabaya - "Think equal, smart build, innovate for change", is the theme of this year's International Women's Day commemoration. Commemorated by women worldwide every year, precisely on March 8, as a day that marks the privilege of women, with all their roles. This is also the basis for women at the Surabaya Container Terminal (TPS), commemorating this special day in a special way.
Friday (3/22) at The Goods Diner, TPS female employees held a commemoration of World Women's Day. Invitations are extraordinary women consisting of Service Users, female employees in the Pelindo III Group, Association of TPS Employee Wives and foreign female citizens who live in Surabaya and are members of the Surabaya EWAS - Expatriate Women Association.
The invitees appear special. Unlike the appearance on a typical day, the invitees wore clothes from various countries and regions, kebaya and other traditional Indonesian traditional clothes look beautiful with the traditional clothes of the world, such as Japan, India, Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Spain and so forth.
The EWAS members present came from various countries: Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Korea and Africa. On this occasion, the invitees shared stories about the role of women in their respective countries, how culture and environmental support influence the implementation of the role of women, the challenges faced along with the times, especially for those who live far from the homeland and what new things done to win the challenge.
As revealed by the TPS Finance Director, Nur Syamsiah, this event was not only carried out because it commemorated International Women 's Day which falls on March 8, but more on equality and emancipation, so that it deserves a place and is respected in life in the community. "Because women are unique, beautiful and multitasking, so through this event, we want to keep encouraging women, that we are strong and persistent," said Nur.The event was even more exciting with games about women's themes. Through these games a lot of information is shared, including door prizes prepared by the committee - all of which are women. Invitations fuse when everyone is invited to dance together, the room feels full of positive aura, intimacy and harmony, even though they are aware that each has a difference.
The peak of more than one hundred women who wore traditional Indonesian and foreign attire was given the opportunity to run a model on the catwalk, and selected 5 best dresscodes where one of them was chosen as Miss TPS International 2019, from Terminal Teluk Lamong, Serafi Anelies Utami, in costumes Papua.
The highlight of the event was closed with the opportunity for extraordinary women to display their best performances in their own country or region's clothing.
"The program is different, exciting, very inspiring! We are waiting for the next events from the TPS to be more unique, "said Aulia Fita Retnani, a representative from Evergreen who was present at the event.
The woman, known as Lala, also said that women's perspectives, both in Indonesia and in other countries, were not much different. We both want to move forward and play a role in that progress. With the support of all, by sticking to the natural nature of women, we can become superior people and remain polite and respectful towards others.
