The TPS Health, Safety and Environment Policy requires the Company to report at six monthly intervals on its performance in respect of Health, Safety and the Environment. This report will be posted on the TPS web-site www.tps.co.id where all interested parties will have access.

Environmental Incidents

During the period there were no incidents at TPS which caused damage to the environment. There were five minor bush fires in grass located to the north of the terminal which were quickly extinguished. There was one incident where a container failed spilling its contents, drums of waste material, into the hold of a vessel alongside.

Steps have been taken to reduce the risk of such fires occurring in the future and Shipping Lines have been reminded or their responsibilities in respect of ensuring that containers presented for shipment are in a seaworthy condition.

Safety Incidents

During the past six months there have been a total of ten reported injuries within the TPS complex. None of these has resulted in an absence from work of more than three days. The injuries were sustained mainly during lashing operations on board vessels and additional training courses have been held in an attempt to reduce such incidents.

There was one death on the premises when an outside truck driver suffered a heart attack and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port Hospital.

Collisions between outside vehicles and terminal equipment accounted for twelve incidents during the six months and a further four incidents involved outside vehicles only. Revised traffic regulations are in the process of being introduced in an attempt to reduce these incidents.

There were a total of 43 incidents involving TPS equipment during the period. These have ranged from damage to containers to minor damage to vessels and minor damage to terminal vehicles. Again increased and improved training has been introduced to keep such incidents to a minimum.

New Environmental Initiatives

TPS has acknowledged problems caused by traffic congestion on the Expressway as a result of vehicles queuing to enter Jalan Tanjung Emas. Our investigations have concluded that the major problem relates to the number of empty trucks parking in the TPS Vehicle Park designed to handle only laden trucks. It is proposed to only allow container laden vehicles bound for TPS or vehicles accessing the container facilities to the west of Jalan Tanjung Emas to use this access in future.

Trucks wishing to take delivery of containers from TPS will in future enter the terminal via Jalan Laksda M. Natsir and west into Jalan Mutiara. It is hoped this will relieve the congestion on the main roundabout leading from Jalan Tanjung Emas

New Safety Initiatives

The revision of terminal entry to accommodate the initiative mentioned above will also result in the introduction of new traffic regulations for the terminal. These are currently being prepared and will be fully promulgated to all concerned prior to implementation.

New Health Initiatives

TPS is currently working with the Port Hospital to identify any health problems which may be caused by the working environment at TPS. To date there are no identifiable problems but steps are being taken to reduce air pollution caused by terminal vehicles.

For the first six months of 2003 there have been no Environment Related Incidents at TPS.

The monitoring requirements of the TPS Environmental Environment Plan have been observed and no measurements of environmental effects attributable to TPS have been above those permitted by Indonesian regulations. To further assist in our monitoring of the environment an electronic weather station is currently being installed on the wharf.

Construction of a wash bay for the fleet Rubber Tyred Gantries with its own waste water treatment plant was completed during the period together with a special holding bay for leaking containers.

During the period average monthly consumption

- of diesel fuel 536,937 litres
- of electricity 592,000 Kwh.
- of water 7,417 tonnes of which 32% is supplied to vessels

A total of 645 vessels exchanged 346,487 containers between 1st January and 30th June.

On average each month TPS handled 44,267 truck movements. In an successful effort to reduce traffic congestion at the northern end of the Expressway, in June TPS opened a new truck park with a holding capacity of 100 vehicles; to provide a waiting area for vehicles awaiting orders from customers for the delivery of import containers. Construction of an amenity block and canteen for these truck drivers is currently underway.

During the period TPS has continued to give financial support to the youth environmental awareness group Tunas Hijau Club (www.tunashijau.org). As the major sponsor of their Prince and Princess of the Environment competition we were particularly pleased to note that the winners had met with the President of Indonesia.

All TPS are subject to medical check-ups at regular intervals, the frequency being dependant upon the tasks performed on a daily basis i.e. heavy equipment drivers are tested more frequently that sedentary office workers. There have been no reported work related illnesses reported by the Company’s Medical Provider over the period.

TPS continues to place strong emphasis on safety in the workplace. During the first six months of 2007 we have introduced Man Cages to assist in working on deck container stacks and thus protecting the workforce from falling from heights. This is a new iniatitive for Indonesia and it is to be hoped that our example will be followed by others.

There were a number of minor injuries during the period. Five terminal stevedores sustained minor cuts and bruises in the course of their duties and four terminal truck drivers received minor injuries when the terminal bus in which they were travelling overturned as a result of a collision with a terminal truck unit. An outside truck driver fell off his trailer when securing his load ex the CFS and was knocked out. All victims were initially treated at the Terminal First Aid Post and where necessary transferred to the port hospital for further observation/treatment.

During the first six months of 2007 there have been no Environmental Incidents within the boundaries of TPS. The monitoring requirements of the TPS Environmental Management plan have been observed and no adverse environmental effects (as defined by the Government of Indonesia) attributable to TPS or its activities have been recorded. TPS Officers noted a serious pollution threat in Kali Perak where vegetable oil from a nearby facility had leaked into the water course. TPS contacted the relevant Authorities and assisted in the clean up operations.
